Edwin Hankins III, MD was born in Hope, Arkansas but grew up in Little
Rock where he graduated from Central High School. He attended Southwestern
at Memphis, now called Rhodes College, where he received a Bachelors degree
in Biology.
After completing a Masters degree in Anatomy at the University
of Arkansas Medical Center in Little Rock, he earned his medical
degree from the same institution. A one year rotating internship
was done at the University of Kansas Medical School in Kansas City;
followed by a three year residency in ophthalmology at the University
of Texas Medical School at Houston.
Dr. Hankins, who is board certified by the American Academy of
Ophthalmology, returned to Little Rock and began private practice
with Ophthalmology Associates in 1974. His practice was located
in the Doctors Building until March of 2003 when he joined the Little
Rock Eye Clinic as they expanded their practice to include a satellite
office at 4200 North Rodney Parham Road.
Dr. Hankins is married and has three children and two grandchildren. He and
his wife Sharon are members of Second Presbyterian Church. He enjoys outdoor
activities such as fishing, landscape design and astronomy. He also enjoys
playing volleyball, weight training and fitness activities.
