Dr. Dan Hennessey, O.D.

Dr. Hennessey attended the University of Central Arkansas. He received his Doctor of Optometry degree from Southern California College of Optometry. Upon completion of his residency training at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, he joined the faculty at UAB School of Optometry. He has been in private practice in Little Rock since 1986 and joined Little Rock Eye Clinic in 1991.

As an optometric physician, Dr. Hennessey provides primary eye care. These services include comprehensive eye health and vision examinations and the diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases and vision disorders. He specializes in contact lenses and contact lens-related problems.

Dan and his wife, Beth, live in Little Rock and have three sons, Daniel, Jason and Michael. Beth earned a master’s degree in nursing and is the executive director for integrated care management for Sutter Care at Home in Fairfield, Calif. The family attends St. Edward Catholic Church in Little Rock where Dan serves as deacon. He was ordained to the ministry in 1998.

Dr. Cliff Clifton, M.D.

Dr. Clifton is a lifelong resident of the state of Arkansas and was raised in Holly Grove. He attended Rhodes College in Memphis, where he earned a degree in chemistry.

His medical training took place at the University of Arkansas Medical Center in Little Rock. Dr. Clifton earned his Doctor of Medicine degree in 1971. He then completed a one-year rotating internship and a four-year residency in ophthalmology that ended in 1976.

Dr. Clifton is board certified in ophthalmology by the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He specializes in general ophthalmology including cataract surgery, strabismus, lid surgery and laser surgery.

Cliff and his wife San-Dee, live in Little Rock and have two sons, Blake and Kyle. Blake graduated from Central High School and Davidson College, and works in investment banking. Kyle graduated from Central High School and Rhodes College, and works as a consultant.

Cliff and San-Dee attend Second Presbyterian Church, where he has served as Sunday School superintendent, deacon and elder. An Eagle Scout and Silver Beaver Recipient, he has spent his life being involved in Boy Scouts having been a scoutmaster and currently serving on the Executive Board as Council Chairman of Advancement. Cliff is a former tennis player and has been bicycling for 15 years, enjoying long rides with friends. After cycling, one of his favorite activities is working in his yard with Japanese Maples and Hydrangeas. Cliff and San-Dee both love dogs and San-Dee is active in training dogs for obedience, hunt tests, agility and tracking. They both enjoy duck hunting, especially with their Golden Retriever, Player.

Dr. Laurie Gray Barber, M.D.

Laurie Barber was born in Corpus Christi, Texas and grew up in Ankeny, Iowa.  She was named to Mortar Board, Phi Beta Kappa and Cardinal Key as a college junior, and graduated summa cum laude from Iowa State University following her first year in medical school.  Dr. Barber obtained her medical degree from the University of Iowa College Of Medicine.  During her ophthalmology residency at the University of Arkansas Medical School (UAMS), she was the recipient of the Raymond and Mary Morris Annual Ophthalmology Resident Award.

Following residency, Dr. Barber served ophthalmology at UAMS’s Jones Eye Institute for 23 additional years.  Appointed Professor of Ophthalmology, she has been awarded the UAMS Educational Excellence Award for teaching, the Dean’s Outpatient All-Star for patient care, as well as the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) Senior Achievement Award from many years of service and leadership the AAO and her follow ophthalmologists.  Her published papers include research in medical student empathy, dry eye, and eye allergies.

Dr. Barber served as director and principal investigator for Arkansas Clinical Research.  For 19 years, she has actively studied dry eye, allergies and meibomian gland dysfunction.  She was named to “135 leading Ophthalmologists in America” by Becker, and “Best Doctors of America” 2011-2015.

Dr. Barber has three adult children, and enjoys any family time or empty nest activities with husband, Jeffrey Barber.  They may be found biking, boating, fishing, traveling, reading or cooking.
